Christmas Gifts 2011

These are gifts that I made this year for Christmas

I made this for my niece.   It's 1 1/2 yards.  Printed fleece on one side and plain brown on the other.  Lay wrong sides together, pin.  Round the corners (I used a paper plate).  Sew 1 1/2" from edge.  Snip outer edge every 1/2" all the way around.

I made this for my grandson due December 27.  I didn't do the embroidery.  I made this with a yard of John Deere fleece and a yard of green fleece.  You can see the tutorial in this post.

This blanket is for my oldest daughter.  She loves zebra print!  I made this with a little over a yard of fleece (each of the zebra print and hot pink).  I laid them out, wrong sides together, trimmed to be the same size and pinned all 4 sides.  I then cut out a 6" square out of each corner.  For the fringe, I cut slits about 3/4" apart all the way around.  You then tie the layers together.  Very quick and easy.

The Colts Burp cloths are for our grandson.  The other one is an extra to keep on hand.  These are SO easy to make and they are a great size. The Colts are made with flannel on one side and terry cloth on the other.  The bottom one is cotton material on the top with terry cloth on the other side.

Wash cloths.  I also enjoy making these.  Very simple.  They are flannel on one side and terry cloth on the other.

I made these neck pillows for my granddaughters to keep in the car.

  6. We started handmaking Christmas gifts in 2010 and everyone loved it so much we continued in 2011 and I am still doing it this year. This past Christmas I knitted everyone vintage stocking caps and, even though all our daughters are grown, they all loved them! I like your blankets. They've inspired me to look for knitting patterns and knit afghans this year. Wait. Maybe I'd better do that for 2013, it might take me that long. LOL

  7. You were busy! I love homemade gifts. I really like the edging on the fleece blankets -- different than the tied ones. I think I'll make some of them.

  9. Hello Kelly,

I need to ask you a HUGE FAVOR. Would it be possible that you could make another John Deer blanket, with the SAME NAME on it? I have a friend and her son is battling leukemia for 5 years now, and his name is Colton. John Deer is his favorite thing ever. I would absolutely pay any amount to have this done for him. He spends a loooot of time in in the hospital and i think it will make him really happy to carry that around. my email is klaudia4jayme@yahoo.com. please let me know.

    Sincerely,

    Claudia
